Funny wee curio...interesting to see Burroughs looking so wide-eyed and innocent with his whole life in front of him...

Speaking of freshman pictures....
Does anyone remember several years ago there was a big stink here in the U.S. about Ivy League schools having, in years past, made nude photos of all their incoming freshman as part of a supposed posture study, and that apparently at least some of these photos still existed and might possibly be released, thus embarassing a large number of prominent people. Wonder if any such photos were made of Burroughs?

'Hardvard'? I meant, of course, Harvard. But in light of the above post, I suppose the former spelling seems appropriate...

'DESCRIPTION

Here's a VERY Interesting look at the Conventional, Upper Class Surroundings and Values that sent WILLIAM SEWARD BURROUGHS looking for a DIFFERENT Lifestyle. Much of Burroughs' work is semi-autobiographical. Burroughs is Shown PORTAIT STYLE Alphabetically in the Graduate Section. His Fellow Classmates and Professors are also Pictured. As are the BEAUTIFUL Campus Buildings. Some via AERIAL View. Of Course, Old HARVARD CLASS ALBUM Year Books are PACKED with GREAT PHOTOGRAPHS and This Book is NO EXCEPTION.

Beginning of the Book is LOADED with LARGE Photos of the Beautiful Campus Buildings. Some of the Pictures are of the INTERIORS of these Classic Structures. LOTS of Faculty and Senior Portrait Photos, Descriptions, Club and Sports Team Pictures as well.

VERY INTERESTING....... among BURROUGHS and the many Senior Graduates I noticed Philanthropist DAVID ROCKEFELLER, Author RICHARD BISSELL, Medical Pioneer WILLIAM BERENBERG, Newspaper Family Scion, JOSEPH PULITZER, JR., Squash Champion and Artist GERMAIN GLIDDEN and Presidential Offspring THEODORE ROOSEVELT, 3rd.

OBVIOUSLY, there are MANY MORE who made Names for themselves in the Post Harvard Years. I'm Sure Some in World War 2. Flipping through the Pages the LAST NAMES are VERY Impressive.

SENIORS are Individually Pictured. There are FANTASTIC GROUP Photos of the Football, Track, Hockey, Crew, Tennis and Baseball Teams. ALSO Photographed are the Different Publications, Club and House Membership. Obviously, since you have found this auction you have EXCELLENT taste in Old High School, Prep, Academy, Military, College and University Yearbooks.'

I Love this:

PLEASE DO NOT DRINK AND BID

What about shooting heroin and bidding, would that be alright?

Here's the Yearbook itself. And a funny thing. A lot of the entries for other people have an 'Intended Vocation' slot for things like business, art, medicine. Not so for WSB, which is hardly surprising...
