B/W footage of Burroughs in the doc

Post by DrBenway1210 » Sun Jan 29, 2017 10:45 am

Greetings,

Does anyone know the origin and context of the footage that appears in the "Opium" sequence of Burroughs the Movie? When he quotes the line of Naked Lunch, there's this footage of him shooting H or apomorphine in a small apartment. Was this from the Guerrilla Conditions/Naked Lunch movie attempt?

It's a fascinating look.

can't say for certain where the footage is from (most likely if it shows him seated and crosslegged as he finds his vein it is from Balch's "Towers open fire" or "Cut-ups") but I can say for certain that it was NOT apomorphine in the works... this was most usually taken as pills dissolved under the tongue if you were 'out of treatment' or intra-muscularly (never intravenously) if 'in treatment' and under supervision.

He's in a small dark apartment, looking at what seems to be burned papers on a table. There's a close up on his face as he opens his eyes. Then there is a shot of him sitting and shooting up.

He looks very young, fascinating.
