Eileen Myles: Burroughs a "Reverse Lesbian"

I never read anything by Eileen Myles, but I did get a chuckle out of her description of Burroughs as a "reverse lesbian":

Whereas the older and rottener William Burroughs became the better they liked him. Guess I’m not old enough...’m reading Naked Lunch and Burroughs endlessly is railing about Matriarchy. He’s such a reverse lesbian. Everything that Matriarchy represents is for him something that demands conformity and rebellious men always stop right at the door of gender, and can’t look at their own part in subjugating half the race.

The people who complain about Burroughs' misogyny forget that blaming everything wrong in the world on "patriarchy" and fantasies of all-female, all-lesbian communities seem to be more or less standard among many feminist authors. In many ways WSB's fantasy world was a mirror image to feminism.
