I just got my copy the other day and I agree it is fascinating to read this book. (Never thought that a "bibliography" could be that interesting...)
You don't have to be a bibliographic-bunker freak to like this book; I'll recommend it to everyone.

Just a few more days into reading The Road to Interzone and it is still a very fascinating portrait of WSB made by books...

I've been thumbing through Road to Interzone for the fourth time today. The book version looks fantastic and I've always felt that the text itself is one of those things you just have to have, like Literary Outlaw. What's more, you can't help but be impressed by the fact that this is essentially an independent work of scholarship. I'd like to say a public congrats to Michael on a fabulous achievement. Bravo, man.

This is Michael Stevens old site. http://home.swbell.net/felix23/ It doesn't work on my Mac, but may be it will work with Internet Explorer on a Windows machine.

The book really is an interesting read, although I can understand that you may not think so, if you think of it being simply a bibliography. But to know which books WSB owned, did read, etc. adds a lot of understanding to Burroughs' work.

Even though I have the first edition, I'll be buying the second edition as well. 4 additional pages and a chance for another inscribed copy!!

Michael Stevens is putting out a new edition of the Burroughs work he did before Road to Interzone. It's called a Distant Book Lifted, "a bibliography of forewords, introductions, afterwords, blurbs and other William S. Burroughs miscellany." This is a revised and updated edition praised by James Grauerholz as "an amazing piece of research." More info here:

just noticed ROAD TO INTERZONE available on Amazon for a reasonable price. Author Mike Stevens notes that he won't profit from these but wanted folks to know that paper copies are available out there for those Burroughsians who prefer non-digital reading. I still consult this book on a regular basis.
