The Seven Deadly Sins

I finished this little oddity in the Burroughs oeuvre a few days ago and was wondering if anyone could shed a little light on it. For some reason there isn't much on the Internet about it's conception or any other information relating to why Burroughs compiled this book together. Could anyone enligh...

Re: Pre-Recorded Problem? [Discussion]

Hahaha well when dealing with a topic concerning paradoxes confusion and headaches are par the course. I find your perspective on this idea very intriguing. I had never considered Burroughs own personal stake in the pre-recordings theory in relation to the death of Joan. My question is whether or no...

Question on Port of Saints

Hey so I have a question concerning the thematic ideas conveyed in Port of Saints. I have read nearly all of Burroughs novels, a number of his short story compilations, interview books, and side stories, but Port of Saints is one that I have yet to read for whatever reason. From what I've heard Port...

Re: Dangerous minds

Fascinating articles, thank you for sharing. Does anyone know if the Black Rider has any upcoming dates in the US? Preferably the east coast.

Re: Pre-Recorded Problem? [Discussion]

I hope not since I love discussing Burroughs with fellow fans haha. I've been using this site for at least two years now I think and from what I've observed there appear to be a few individuals who float back and forth with posting content or replying to posts on here. Personally I check the site al...

Re: Burroughs predicting the Kennedy Assassination?

This is true, however in the introduction to the book James Grauerholtz does not make any mention of any later alterations to the text.

Re: Anyone who picks up a frying pan owns death

My understanding of the phrase was similar to GNL's interpretation. That once one has contact with the capability or idea of life and death they become owners of it. Interesting post, thanks for sharing!

"No face in the tarnished mirror"

Hey all! I was reading from Exterminator and I encountered this line at the end of the shory story "Astronaut's Return" and was wondering what other interpretations would yield. The line is: "Do you begin to see there is no tarnished face in the mirror?" Now if you haven't read the story allow me to...

Burroughs predicting the Kennedy Assassination?

I finished the compilation Interzone today and I ran across something interesting that I thought I'd share with you guys. In these lines I felt like there was almost some sort of allusion to Kennedy, yet the Word Hoard section of the book where it is found in was written between 1954 and 1958, years...

I saw that recently too. Interesting how Burroughs had such an illustrious connection to so many awesome musicians from Jimmy Page, David Bowie, Devo, and Kurt Cobain.

Re: Questions about The Ticket that Exploded

I agree with your interpretation Dr. Benway. In my opinion the message that Burroughs is conveying is the arrogance and pride of humans to think that they can control something greater than themselves. He echoes a similar idea in Ah Pook is Here and in the Wild Boys when he says “Here lived a stupid...

Pre-Recorded Problem? [Discussion]

I saw an earlier post by torsrthidesen regarding Burroughs theory of a pre-recorded universe and something edward_de_vere said had me contemplating the theory and any inconsistencies within it. Since this seemed like a bigger and more profound issue I figured to make it its own thread rather than re...
