Re: Magazines and periodicals

Tor, Harold Norse magazine BASTARD ANGEL is a good place. Only 3 issues produced but for the times the printing standards were good. They might be found for maybe £40 (or $60 USA) maybe. Lots of Beats in those. Kerouac, Burroughs, Bukowski even and loads more. In England from the 1960s Tom Raworths ...

Re: Cassady/Kerouac letter to be auctioned ....

Seems it didn't make the reserve price of just under $400,000. By rights it should go to the Cassady family. Neal wrote it. And a little cash to the family that saved it. No? At least it seems the wrangling over it has settled between the Cassady family, the Sampas family and the Spinosa family. The...

You'll be lost in there for weeks. Excellent site. Naturally many Burroughs crossovers. Films, links, photos, a terrific archive. The site moderators, Peter Hale & co are very friendly & helpful.

Re: Beat Scene 74 - WSB in England

Mixa, if you saw the original image I had to work from for the cover you'd probably agree it couldn't be printed as it stood. It's all personal opinion anyway. To be honest I don't think it's a horrid cover at all. It's meant to be loud, colourful and brash. The image of Burroughs sitting on a sofa ...

Dave, Cornerhouse still stock it. Other than that - direct from me. I miss Compendium. Love to hear from you.
Jed knows his stuff. WSB was a friend of Bill Butler at Unicorn.

Re: James Grauerholz re Burroughs letters 1959-1961

Just got my copy today. A few people spoke of a strange cover and it really is pretty naff to put it kindly. Doesn't look like any letters to Kerouac. Maybe holding out for a special volume?

Re: Iain Sinclair and William Burroughs

Thanks for mentioning Iain Sinclair's THE FACE ON THE FORK: A WILLIAM BURROUGHS TRIPTYCH. The response has been positive for a project that Iain started in the 1960s. Anyone interested get in touch. Either by using my kev@beatscene.freeserve.co.uk address or on the Beat Scene site. There is more Bur...
